December - January "Ball Excellence"

The KCSG BASE TRAINING program is an at home training program for KCSG players to utilize to improve their technical abilities.  BASE TRAINING will provide monthly challenges, competitions, programming and goal setting for all players.  It is up to the player to participate, engage and implement into their personal development plan.

Build a Plan - Stick to the Plan!

Ball Mastery is the Foundation of KCSG Curriculum and is essential for Individual player success and development.

All KCSG players need to be proficient in ball mastery and ball movement skills.  The goal is to achieve a level of
automaticity:  the ability to do things without occupying the mind with the low-level details required, allowing it to become an automatic response pattern or habit. IE reflex, habit.

PLAYER DRIVEN:
The KCSG player must have PASSION to take on the responsibility to work on their own at home.  The team can only function at the level of ALL of the individual players.  We need all players to raise their level of play to allow the TEAM to play at its highest potential.

How Does It Work?

KCSG Base Training is an at home training program for our players. The goal of the program is to provide players tools and challenges to work on their game at home to develop their individual skill levels.

MONTHLY CHALLENGES:  Each month we will provide new challenges, new curriculum and opportunities for rewards. Some rewards will be competitions such as submitting a video or achieving base standards of skill development. The ultimate reward for our players is that they will grow their individual skill levels.

MAKE A PLAN, STICK TO THE PLAN:  The Base Training program will challenge players to make a plan, stick to your plan. We will challenge players to set goals and to achieve them.

CURRICULUM:  We will eventually add up to 7 different categories of individual training.  We have started off with Ball Mastery/Movement and Juggling.  Each Category has a slide deck containing numerous sessions/activities that players can add to their plan to meet their goals.  In addition the slides of the sessions also have video links showing how to perform the skills correctly and examples of the session.  A great tool for players and parents to be able to see and learn the techniques of all of the various skill work.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND REWARDS:  Parents and Coaches are going to encourage participation in skill development at home.  Players that participate and put in the time and effort to in the monthly challenges will receive rewards and have opportunities for drawings for larger rewards.  We will also have contests where players can download videos or have opportunities to show skills sets throughout the year for additional recognition.  We will be posting top videos that exemplify the Gallagher Way on our youtube channel:  @kcscottgallaghertv9119  In addition ball mastery and technical abilities will be part of the individual player assessments conducted by each coach every year.

WHAT KIND OF PLAYER AM I?  There are a lot of talented players that never meet the potential of their abilities. There are also a lot of players that work extra hard to achieve levels of play that they were not expected or foreseen. The good thing is you get to choose what type of person and player you want to be. Do you want to underachieve your talent levels or do you want to overachieve them?
