About Union KC Soccer Club

Union KC strives to build one of the best clubs in the country. A Club that focuses on the development of our players on and off the field plus a Club that creates a positive impact on our community. Union KC is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit established in 2005 as KC Select Soccer Club. Fast-forward to Spring 2024, Union KC stands strong with over 1,500 member athletes, 100+ teams, and 75+ coaches/staff. The Club is committed to growing the soccer community in a unifying way not only in Kansas City by spanning the MO/KAN state lines but also leading at the Regional and National levels. Union KC offers playing opportunities for all levels of boys and girls from ages of 4-23 with local leagues at Heartland or Paragon Star while competing in National and Regional platform league memberships with ECNL, ECNL RL, Girls Academy, DPL, E64 RL, NPL, USYSA Midwest Conference and MADL. The Club also offers soccer programs for adaptive soccer in the S.T.A.R.S. program, amateur women with the U21 and senior WPSL teams, developmental soccer with YDP/Juniors program and individual training with P3 Development program. Union KC has developed teams who have won State, Regional and National-level events. Through its programs, Union KC has trained, mentored and developed hundreds of local youth to earn athletic scholarships at the NCAA Division 1, 2, 3 through NAIA or Junior College levels. Union KC home facilities include Paragon Star and Garmin Olathe with long-term lease agreements for outdoor training and weekend platform home games. Homefield KC serves as the Club administrative offices and primary indoor space along with indoor fields at Homefield Olathe.

Union KC Culture Values and the Community

To further guide our culture, Union KC teaches 6 Core Values: Unity, iNtegrity, Intensity, Tradition, Excellence and Dedication (UNITED). These Core Values are included in our curriculum and a large part of how we develop our players on and off the field. In addition to player character-building, Union KC has a strong history of community volunteerism and advocacy. Union KC has run or sponsored events benefiting the H8 Cancer Foundation, Wings-4-Water, Banded Brigade Outdoor, Susan G. Komen Foundation, The Victory Project and Stephanie Vest Foundation. The Club has donated hundreds of uniform kits to refugees and orphanages in South Sudan through Harvesters Reaching the Nations organization. Union KC teams also conduct local team building activities by volunteering together at local charities. 

Union KC Leadership and Coaching

Union KC leaders are deeply involved in the local community with careers spanning entrepreneurism, finance/banking, insurance, education and athletics. Union KC is governed by an elected Board of Directors who have employed various full-time and part-time positions to manage business and soccer operations. Business operations are led by an Executive Leadership Team and Soccer Operations are led by the Technical Director and various Directors of Coaching. Union KC has one of the most educated and experienced coaching staff in the area and region. Over 90% of Union KC coaches have earned a USSF “D” license or higher with over 25% of our coaches earning a “C”, “B”, or “A” license.  A majority of Union KC coaches have playing or coaching experience at the high-school and college levels, as well as the Club has many coaches who have played professional soccer from indoor professional teams to playing in the USL, MLS and international soccer as high as the World Cup.  Union KC coaches are required to continue their soccer coaching education through attendance at coach’s meetings, clinics and pursuit of USSF & USC higher-level licensing courses.

Union KC Membership Growth History

Union KC was initially founded in 2005 as KC Select Soccer Club resulting from of a merger of the Scream SC, Renegades SC and KC Nationals SC. In 2005, the Club consisted of 6 girls’ teams and 65 players. Throughout the years KC Select absorbed various geographic Clubs in the Northland (Liberty United) and in Kansas City (Bayern Munich & ALBA FC) growing to over 500 players and 60 teams by 2015. In April 2017, KC Select re-branded to KCSG establishing an affiliation across Missouri with a St. Louis Club and growing to about 700 member players and 70 teams. In April 2018, KCSG merged with Kansas Elite and KC Prime forming a combined Club under the KCSG brand consisting of over 80 teams and 1,100 member players spanning all parts of the KC Metro Area in Missouri and Kansas. In the first 12 years, KCSG legacy teams won multiple KSYSA & MYSA State Cup/Presidents Cup Championships plus these teams played in the Midwest Conference of the USYS National League or Heartland Soccer League. Beginning in 2020, KCSG girl’s teams earned membership in the ECNL Regional League. In 2022, KCSG earned membership in the ECNL National and Regional platforms on the boy’s side. In March and April 2024, KCSG earned membership in the Girl’s Academy National League, boys E64 Regional League and DPL membership in the girl’s side. In May 2024, KCSG rebranded to Union KC launching a new era of soccer for Kansas City. Union KC is one of the largest and most successful Clubs in the KC Metro area with teams ranked on the State, Regional and National level by GOTSOCCER.COM and Youth Soccer Rankings USA.
